French 9B

Students will learn basic vocabulary for each of the syllabus topics during this year.  At the end of this year, students will be tested on essential skills of speaking and listening, reading and writing, with a great emphasis placed on listening skills.  Vocabulary recognition and recall is paramount.  Students are expected to participate in daily exercises toward improving their language skills.  Some grammar and structure is taught, but students are still memorizing set phrases.

French III

During level three, students will be honing their language skills to the level of the New York State Regents Checkpoint B.  They will learn how to express themselves with more sophisticated vocabulary and grammatical structure.  French III students will be able to use the subjunctive and the imperative.  There will be an intense irregular verb study.  At the end of the year, students should be ready to take the New York State Regents Exam.
